Volunteering
Hello Dolphin Families!
Thank you to those who were able to attend today's parent meeting. Today we discussed the importance of volunteers during meets. It takes a village to run a swim meet. Without parent volunteers, the meets cannot take place. Beginning at Monday's practice, there will be sign-up forms for volunteer positions. At least 1 member from all swimmer's family will be required to volunteer, at this time, for at least 2 meets (1 meet is 1/2 of the meet). Please note, this minimum may change. You may choose the 1st half or the 2nd half however once you sign-up, you must remain until your 1/2 of the meet is complete even if your swimmer has completed their events. Below are the volunteer positions and a brief description (a full description will be available at practice on Monday):
Lane Timer-records swimmer time (aprox 8 or more per half)
Bullpin-prepare swimmers for staging (2 per half)
Staging-prepare swimmers for starts near blocks (2 per half)
Runner-collects timer sheets (1 per half)
Scoring verifier-confirms times entered properly (1 per half)
Check-in-swimmer check-in before meet begins (aprox 3)
Computer person-enters times into computer (1 per meet-requires training)-need 1 committed for the season
Stroke/Turn judge-observes swimmers performance in the water (2 per half-requires training)-need 4 committed for the season
Ribbons-completes ribbons (1 per meet)
Concessions-runs concesssion stand during home meets only (aprox 2-3)
Volunteer Coordinator Assistant-ensure volunteers are in place-1 person committed for the season
The total needed per home meet is approximately 40, a little less for away meets. Please consider the positions above in conjuction with the dates for the meets found on our website. The sign-up sheets will be posted on Monday for all to select the position they prefer. Positions will be 1st come 1st serve. If you are interested in a position that requires training, please let me know right away so I can send you the training link. The training is approximately 45 minutes. Our 1st opportunity to practice our volunteer skills will be at our mock meet 1 week from today, Saturday, May 24th.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Go Dolphins!
